hahahaaaaa it’s finally happened! by the way, it’s late. late, late, late. it’s so late that i don’t know why i’m up.

anyway, this is to say that in the next two days EVENTUALLY, the beaner and i will start posting our work and musings here. FINALLY, now that we have a portable computer that’s all our own we can finally record at any place we happen to be (school, our houses, “pirates” rehearsal, etc. LOOK FORWARD TO IT.

oh, and chicken this weekend. (:

p.s. BUY IMOGEN HEAP’S NEW ALBUM “ELLIPSE.” notice i said “buy.” the sound particles that came out of her music were so potent and amazing that i nearly passed out. GREAT WORK by a GREAT ARTIST. love her!

at this moment in my life, i’m really missing the class of 2009… or at least some people (e.g. tess, jacob… is that all?) hahahahaha i guess it’s not that many. but still… then when i think about the class of 2010, i actually feel like projecting my life outside of this atmosphere until i can just become a comet orbiting the earth for millions of years. I HATE [almost] EVERYONE IN THAT YEAR AT THIS CRAPPY [amazing] SCHOOL. why would they ever.

oh and the beaner is in maine now.

also: why would there ever be a need for a fourth “pirates of the caribbean” movie? after the last one, i really think i’ve had my fill of johnny depp in an elaborate pirate costume (no offense to him, of course). i feel like they’re going to milk this franchise for all it’s worth. now, i don’t doubt that it’ll probably be of good quality, but STILL: why would it EVER keep going?

on my itunes today came actually the most unexpected song of the earth: “single ladies.” haven’t listened to this song in months, though during the time when i did listen to it, i could never quite figure out was going on with the harmony and rhythm; it was so awkward. so luckily, today, i came upon this blog here.

cleared my world up; it’s actually the most interesting thing. that’s all. just had to say that.

pirates, birthdays, chicken. summer?

i’m trying to figure out why there are negative four days of summer left. JUST WHY?

my family just got back from maine. pretty incredible. it will always have been the best weather for the days when we were there and then right when we left it was supposed to rain. AHAHAHAHA we know how to plan our vacations. when we went to peaks island to hang out and do some sight-seeing, we came across this. it was the best thing. and the lady there was AMAZING. she played her accordion and sang the most fantastic song and then she showed me out to play it so now i actually HAVE to learn how to play the accordion too. it’s really frustrating and amazing because i have a million other instruments that i have to infuse into my mind and learn how to play by the time thespecies is up and running and better than claire and tyler (except we already are, but whatever.)

finished two compositions today. they are the shit. for real. ummmmm, not much else to say. i’m jealous that i didn’t get to eat chicken today. i really could have used some. ):

OH. pirates of penzance is on monday. I will NEVER actually get any part in the whole play. that will never be true.

I FINALLY GOT ALL MY MUSIC ONTO MY NEW COMPUTER. so now it’s not just radiohead, although it would be okay if it were. i’m just glad to have m.i.a., incubus, utada hikaru, imogen heap, etc. on my computer again. i had to buy an external hard drive enclosure from radio shack for $40, but it was totally worth it.

so, i don’t actually remember writing that last post at all, but whatever.

lately, i’ve kicked it into overdrive concerning my compositions because i really want to get an original piece done before school starts up again (even though i NEVER want to set foot in men’s/women’s chorus ever again because it’s just the worst thing. the one that i’ve been working on lately is called “spring night;” it uses a poem of the same name by sara teasdale. i really fucking love her poetry; she’s a genius. it was originally going to be in the key of d-flat, but then i decided that e-flat sounded better, and a modulation to c major (for me) was preferable.

yesterday i found out that imogen heap has a new album coming. yes, yes, yes! it’s actually really super exciting. i listened to her single “first train home” (see below) and it was the best thing, so typical of her, but brilliant and unexpected, nevertheless. so, basically, as soon as ellipse comes out, i will be buying it without hesitation. i think i’ll buy it with the chicken. also: radiohead has a single in honor of harry patch, the last living survivor of world war I. what an amazing man done justice by such an amazing band. it truly is a masterpiece. this song makes me long for a new radiohead album. so much good music lately.

with school drawing inevitably near, the only thing i’m really thinking about it the upcoming “pirates [of penzance]” audition on august 24th. i’m not nervous, but i’m looking for an opportunity to improve on my last audition which was amazing. the only problem with “pirates” is the same thing that will occur during men’s/women’s chorus and vocal ensemble: MATT.

he actually said that chicken isn’t that good. i had NO idea what to do, except it makes sense because the only reason he said he liked chicken is because of the beaner who graciously exposed his body to it. since he’s done with it (i guess), he can instead go drinking with august and shoplift from wal-mart. HARDCORE, GUYS.
